This is the 125th year of birth of M.C. Escher (1898-1972). To celebrate, Michael Barnaart designed this brooch in collaboration with the museums. The Butterflies brooch is a nod to the 1950 work 'Vlinders' by M.C. Escher. Michael has translated that into geometric butterflies. The gold item is central and around it, congeners of the tessellation try to fly free, creating a dynamic image. Each enamelled brooch is engraved and numbered, which also makes it a unique collector's item. Butterflies is accompanied by a beautiful storage box. Strong images from both high and popular culture play an important role in the design of the brooches. By simplifying and abstracting forms, a powerful and iconic image is created. The geometric compositions fit into the design tradition of Dutch design. Size brooch: 45 mm x 60 mm. Material: metal. Closure: two pin closures. Delivery time: ships in 1 to 3 working days.
